As you all know the backup system of iTunes, these backups occupies hard drive space.These backups should be cleaned to recover hard disk space. Follow the tutorial to delete the backup files and free disk space.
Step by Step tutorial to delete iTunes backup to recover hard disc space:
- Launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit > Preferences (as shown in the image below).
- Now go to Devices tab . This will list all the device backups with history (as shown in the image below).
3. Select the old backups and click on Delete Backup button to remove them (which i’m not having in this image).
- iTunes will empty your hard disk space . The backups once deleted cannot be recovered.
Recover More Space :
After deleting the backup file you can restore a significant amount of memory on your computer . iTunes also saves ipsw firmware files on the computer itself . You can delete these ipsw files to recover more space . To delete the .ipsw file , browse to the following location on your computer .
Windows XP: / Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
Windows Vista & Windows 7: /Users/username/AppData/
